MINNESOTA FOODSHARE

A program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, Minnesota FoodShare is a strong advocate in the grassroots effort to feed Minnesota families living in poverty. The program’s March Campaign recruits thousands of people statewide to collect cash and food for their local food shelves. In addition, the program raises awareness about hunger issues, nutrition and access to government food programs.

LOCAL MARKETS AND FARMS

Lunds & Byerly's, Jubilee Market, and Gale Woods Farm generously donate food rescue items to The Westonka Food Shelf. These donations help us provide our patrons with additional healthy options. We are extremely grateful for their abundant generosity.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

OUR GENEROUS COMMUNITY

Thanks to the generosity of our local schools, businesses, organizations and many individual contributors, we regularly receive monetary and food donations that support The Westonka Food Shelf.

OUR LOCAL CHURCHES

The Westonka Food Shelf started in 1969 through church outreach efforts based on needs in the community.  Local churches continue to support us today.  Their dedication is critical to our success.

FOOD BANKS

We partner with local foodbanks, including The Food Group and Second Harvest Heartland, to make cash donations go further.  Every dollar can typically purchase $9 or more of food because of these partnerships.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

Westonka Food Shelf is completely staffed by generous volunteers from the community who donate their time and energy to helping those in need.  This volunteer effort ensures donations support those in need by going directly to the procurement of food.
